Personal Statement Reflection

1. Mindfulness: My biggest takeaways from the readings are that I have improved my knowledge in spelling because since english is my second language sometimes I am really confused about what word to use and how to spell them. Also while reading I learn how to use complete sentences. I have also learned how analyze and dig deeper into the reading.

2. Perspective:  The feedback I gave to my critical friend Natalia in my opinion was good but it could have been more descriptive since we had plenty of time to read and analyze the personal statement and I wasted a lot of time talking about what kind of jewelry she made. Next time I am going to try to focus.

3. Refinement: The comment that I received during my writing conference were really useful for me, one of them was that I had a lot of run- on sentences and that I should work on independent clause so that that way I can have complete sentences and strong sentences. Another feedback that I received was that I should use commas and that I should be more descriptive and that I should write more specifically about the day that they told me about my grandma’s disease and also talk more about a specific detail about my grandmother, or what specifically reminds me of her.
4. Cooperation and Compassion:  During project work time I like helping others but many times I am the one that needs help. If there is someone who needs my help I am glad because I feel like I am useful but there is a point when not to be mean but it’s annoying when you can’t do your work because people are just being lazy and asking you for help so that you do the job. I sincerely didn’t help much because i really struggled on getting my quote done because I am not good at photo -shop and It never came out the way I wanted it to be but. I feel like I could have done better by getting everything well done but quick so that I could help to do something for the wall because they were really stressed and they were tired and they wanted people to help and contribute and some people were busy but some were just off task.

5. Perseverance: In my opinion what makes good writing is the effort and the dedication you give when writing. If you are lazy and just write the first thing that comes to mind, your paper is not going to be as good as if were if you really took your time working on it and refining it. For me writing is very difficult not only because of the fact that i’m not really good at spelling but sometimes I don't know how to start an essay or sometimes my thoughts don't flow and the writing ends up being weird because I have run on sentences and it doesn’t really flow. Another struggle I have when writing is that I don’t know as many “professional” words in english as everyone else so I struggle when it comes to making the writing more professional and sophisticated. What I can do to make it easier for myself is to read, I am going to start reading in english so that I can expand my vocabulary and be able to be more fluent. In my opinion there are many things I still don’t know about writing and I think I should focus on reading and on learning how to make a great thesis and an awesome conclusion.
