For festival del Sol we wrote african folktale stories which is a tradition in Africa. Those stories often explain the unexplainable and most of the time follow into the category of myths. We also learned how stories change through time and how the a story is twisted when passed down to new generations. We all had to create a story explaining something that makes no sense to you for example: my story was about why chameleons change color, the fun part about this is that you get to explain it in whatever way you want for example i said that they changed color because when they fell from heaven the went through a rainbow. So you get to make your stories fun and entertaining. We prepared for about three weeks and it was really stressing. We were divided into different comities , my commite was the mural one and what we mostly did was create murals so that we could fake a night in Africa for example we could paint trees or a sunset or a night in Africa but we decided to divide the mural in three main parts the first one was for my team which were Diana and K' von we did an African painting, then the second one was a night in Africa were you could see the animals at night then the third one was an African portrait created by the afternoon team. The process was tiring and stressing specially when Diana left and K'von and I had to do the whole mural, but it came out really good. Some skills that i developed was cooperation, patience, evidence and perseverance. As i say perseverance is the habit that I always carry with me, it's what makes me keep on going. Perseverance means never giving up no matter how hard it is to succeed and is something that my parents thought me since i can remember. Festival del Sol was very fun I had a great time, everything went better than what I expected. Everyone that entered the classroom was impressed, because you could see the effort that was put into it, and it just all looked so pretty because there was a fire pit and we simulated stars and the storytellers did really good. I think that festival makes you grow as an individual because it makes you a good public speaker and you also interact with the audience. People often start asking you about what your project was and what was the meaning behind it, so i think that really helps expand your vocabulary and it helps me as a Spanish speaker because is makes me improve my English.
